Cheryl is a Landscape Architect, Lic #436 in the State of Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington in Landscape Architecture (1978) and was in the newly created Landscape Masters Program at UW (1983). Cheryl started Shades of Green Landscaping in 1979, and has been thrilling her clients ever since.
Cheryl worked for the University of Washington in developing modifications for disabled students and faculty access – both in the various buildings and on the campus grounds.
Cheryl worked for WSDOT in development of Park and Rides, EIS Statements, Ferry Terminals, Rest Areas, and Visual Corridor Quality Analysis.

Cheryl now primarily works on residential projects. She prefers the smaller scale, details, working directly with clients, meeting together with clients and contractors to get a project started, or, as the project progresses, making sure that each project is unique and personalized. She likes the ‘hands-on approach’, will often be on site during installation, and always hand selects every plant at the various nurseries, whether a special specimen plant or mass-planting shrubs. She loves seeing the completed project.

She likes the good relationships and friendships that can develop with her clients, many of whom have called well after a project is done and are now ready for the next phase of their project; or years later, when they have moved and are ready to start a whole new landscape at a new place. It is nice to have clients remember your work and specifically seek you again.
Outside her successful business, Cheryl enjoys tennis, traveling, photography, cooking, and spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
