Shades of Green Landscaping recognizes that every client has particular preferences, lifestyles, a budget, and certain abilities and willingness to maintain the project post completion. We want to install a landscape that will meet your individual criteria and will advise or propose little tweaks along the way to ensure you are happy with the final result. We also know that every site is unique, which sometimes means slight adjustments to benefit the ultimate completed project. For instance, it may mean moving a plant a few feet in either direction to better cover a view from a neighbor’s window or adding/subtracting a boulder to accommodate a new plant added by the clients, or change the course of a dry stream bed to accommodate roots of a large tree, etc. We are always checking on these details to produce a custom design that fits the site perfectly and still follows the Landscape Plan.
We are very careful to follow the Landscape Plan details to make sure the planned transitions of one space to another are followed. It may be a certain boulder layout, specific plant, curvature of lawn or wall, steps, change in materials, widening or narrowing of an area. This is discussed during the presentation to the Clients, with the Contractor before the project begins, and continues throughout many on-site reviews during the course of the installation. At the end, the transitions will usually be subtle, but they are quite important as the project would lack the custom feel if they were not considered during installation.
Shades of Green Landscaping has extensive knowledge about our area’s plants, soils, geology, climate, microclimates and other natural systems; and take these into consideration in every design and installation. We keep informed of new or improved varieties of plants being grown and offered, and of their characteristics and horticultural requirements. Shades of Green Landscaping will plan just the right selection and mixture of plants perfect to create a certain style, or perform a certain function. We are well versed in both common Pacific Northwest plants, as well as those not so well known … often, we surprise the most experienced gardener with a plant variety they have never seen!
Shades of Green Landscaping will never produce a “cookie cutter” design for you! We recognize that the plantings on a project are one of the most visible elements and always want to supply top quality – we will not bring a plant to your house if we would not use it at our own garden. Every plant is hand selected to ensure only the finest plants are used on your project. Shades of Green Landscaping acquires plants from many growers and nurseries that are located throughout the Puget Sound area, as well as dealing with nurseries/growers that are in Oregon, California, and Canada.
Sometimes, a Landscape Plan includes an element that requires a specialty contractor, such as one who who installs a swimming pool, sports court, playground set, large outbuilding, asphalt driveways, etc. While Shades of Green Landscaping does not install these type of specialized features, they do include them in their Landscape Plans and can arrange for them to be installed at the appropriate time by a specialty contractor during a project, or coordinate and work with the contractor the client has hired to install the feature.
Shades of Green Landscaping worked with a Sports Court Installation Company and did the preparation and concrete underlayment for the foam basketball court in this client’s side yard. There is a paver viewing/seating area in the foreground. So simple and so inviting!
While Shades of Green Landscaping usually produces its own Landscape Plan to follow, we also work from plans produced by others, another designer, or the client. We are happy to work with homeowners who take on a facet of the installation as their own project.
We hope our experience, knowledge of construction, materials, attention to detail, the ability to install a ‘fit to the site/custom result’, and the great reputation earned by years of thrilled clients will convince you to consider Shades of Green Landscaping for your Yard/Site Installation Project. At the end of every Landscape Installation Project, Shades of Green Landscaping wants a happy, satisfied client who will have years of enjoyment and great memories in their yard.
