There are many types of water features for the yard – it can be a fountain, birdbath, bubbling rock, waterfall, waterfall/pond or even a dry streambed, as they give the feeling or illusion of intermittent water. They can be a combination of these and more, it is just up to the imagination as to what can be done or how they can be incorporated into the yard.
Most people love the feel or sound of water and are quite attracted to being around it. People love the idea of seeing water as natural art or designed art, or hearing their lovely sounds when they are at home, whether it is from indoors or while they are outside. They can be used to provide a nice greeting near the front door, attract birds and butterflies, make a statement, as a focal point, utilize an otherwise difficult slope, serve a purpose such as drainage, water retention, provide security, raise fish, cool off as you sit and dip your feet in the water, contemplation, provide a great view from rooms in the house, or just to relax in your own back yard and enjoy the view and sounds. You don’t have to go anywhere besides your yard to enjoy this – it can be in your own yard!
